PicoSure® is the world’s first, fastest and most effective picosecond aesthetic laser. This unparalleled breakthrough in laser technology delivers ultra-short pulse bursts of energy to the skin in trillionths of a second. Picosecond pulse width is 100 times shorter than nanosecond technology, enabling unmatched photomechanical impact for better clearance with fewer treatments and less fluence.
PicoSure’s ultra-short pulse duration goes beyond photothermal action creating an intense photomechanical impact, patented PressureWave™, resulting in greater disruption of the target for better clearance with fewer treatments, less fluence and without injury to the surrounding skin. Even dark, stubborn blue and green inks, as well as previously-treated, recalcitrant tattoos can be removed.
An example of a patient treated only once with the PicoSure laser treatment. Compare the photo on the left which shows the baseline findings. She was treated with the zoom handpiece in spot treatment for the areas of darker pigment. Then in the same session, we used the Pico standard optic handpiece over the full area of the face in the Pico Tuning approach for gradual reduction of the pigmentation from the superficial to the deeper layers, using the PicoSure photomechanical effect. On the right, is the condition only 2 and a half weeks later showing significant improvement in the pigmentation and general skin condition, as viewed with the Mark.Vu skin analysis system, UV filter.
Traditional nanosecond lasers predominately rely on photothermal action, delivering heat to the pigment and surrounding tissue. PicoSure laser treatment takes advantage of PressureWave Technology to shatter the target ink into tiny particles that are easily eliminated by the body.
Picosecond pulse width is 100X shorter than nanosecond technology.
Only ultrashort pulse durations trigger photomechanical effect.
With this short pulse width, half the fluence is required compared to Q-Switched nanosecond lasers.
It’s true! Pico technology is the future of laser treatment. It is said to be one of the most advanced laser treatments that are currently available on the market.
You can see visible and permanent changes in fewer sessions, and it is safer and needs minimal downtime.
Pico laser is a series of 3-4 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart. However, it can go up to 8 weeks. That said, it is important to remember that it is best to evaluate each individual on a case-by-case basis prior to the treatment.
Some people may experience minor swelling and redness for a couple of hours after the procedure. This is in comparison to the traditional ablative laser technologies, which have a downtime of 3-4 days.
FOCUS™ Lens Array for PicoSure expands picosecond technology beyond tattoo removal for skin treatments unlike any other.
The unique mechanism of action of PicoSure FOCUS has shown results similar to non-ablative and even ablative lasers but without the prep time, patient discomfort or downtime. Patients appreciate the fast treatments, and typically experience only one hour of redness allowing them to quickly return to regular activities.
Focus magnifies the PicoSure pulse 20X, creating laser induced optical breakdown (LIOB) in the epidermis. Studies have shown resulting new collagen and elastin production without the side effects and downtime of fractional and ablative lasers.
The reliable way to rejuvenate skin.
Internationally renowned Dermatologist and Laser Specialist Dr Emil Tanghetti reveals why PicoSure is his preferred laser for skin rejuvenation, every time.
After making its mark on the tattoo industry, PicoSure has set the bar in skin rejuvenation, targeting acne scarring, melasma, actinic pigmentation and photodamage like no other treatment. Backed by a wealth of clinical studies and research, the PicoSure point of difference is in its proven ability to effectively treat any skin type with less downtime than competitors, showing a dramatic improvement in the appearance of pigmentation, acne scars and collagen-damaging skin inflammation.
Dr Emil Tanghetti, a leading dermatologist and laser specialist from California, has a passion for clinical research and has investigated a wide range of drugs and devices over the past 20 years. “With any device you want to understand how the company works in terms of clinical evidence. PicoSure has years of clinical evidence, great studies and a lot of reliable data… There are multiple reasons PicoSure might be useful in your practice. While there may be a lot of devices out there, the beauty of PicoSure is that it can treat both tattoos and the skin, as well as all skin colours and types,” he explains.
